Description
-
Water Treatment: Calcium chloride is widely used in sewage water treatment as a pH regulator and a cheap source of calcium ions. It can remove oil, organic compounds, phosphates, fluorides, and heavy metals. It is primarily used to treat sewage water produced from complementary mineral industries (steel, aluminum), electroplating, glass ceramic production, washing, and daily life.
-
Petrochemical Industry: CaCl2 can be used as drilling fluid, completion fluid, well maintenance fluid, and water displacement fluid in the oil exploration industry.
-
Ice Melting Salt: Due to its high hygroscopicity, solubility in water, and the large amount of heat released during the dissolution process, CaCl2 is used as an ice melting salt on roads, bike paths, and parking lots.
- Other Applications: Calcium chloride solution is an important coolant for freezers and ice-making machines. It can accelerate the setting process and, as an anti-freezing agent, increase the freeze resistance of cement used in construction. In some ports, people use it as a fog removal agent. It is also a dust control agent on roads and a fire retardant in fabrics. Calcium chloride can serve as a protection and purification agent in metal industries such as aluminum/magnesium, used in the production of color-fast dyeing, and as raw material in producing other calcium salts.
